If you plan to use it in public, the real factor isn’t range but noise—a quiet motor hidden under clothing matters more than an extra ten meters. Also consider what happens when the connection is lost: good models shut off, while others remain stuck on the last setting received.

Battery Life, Water Resistance, Privacy

USB-rechargeable models maintain consistent power, whereas batteries gradually lose their charge. Check the water resistance if you plan to rinse it under water. And for app-controlled toys: check what permissions the app requests, and opt for those that work without requiring you to create an account. A toy doesn’t need to access your address book or store a history of your sessions on a server.
