This does not affect your consumer rights. If you are ordinarily resident in the European Union or the European Economic Area, you retain the benefit of the mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence: the choice of law set out above cannot override them (Regulation (EU) No 593/2008, known as ‘Rome I’, Article 6).

Jurisdiction. The courts of the company’s registered office — Sheridan County, State of Wyoming, United States — shall have jurisdiction to hear disputes arising from the relationship with the publisher.

There is, however, one mandatory exception to this: if you are a consumer residing in the European Union or the European Economic Area, you retain the right to bring proceedings before the courts of your country of residence, and you may only be sued before those courts (Regulation (EU) No 1215/2012, known as ‘Brussels I bis’, Articles 17 to 19). A clause agreed before the dispute arises may open up other courts to you, but it cannot deprive you of these.

The European Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform ceased operations on 20 July 2025, following Regulation (EU) 2024/3228. The address ‘ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr’, which is still cited by many websites, no longer leads to any service.
